Day Four: A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors
Dokken: Dream Warriors Music Video
This is the best of the Elm Street sequels (aside from that one where Jason kills Freddy). The effects are great and Freddy never looks better. A great premise in which a teenage Patricia Arquette can pull her fellow Freddy victims into her dream to do battle using their dream talents is punctuated by Freddy's comedy club ready one-liners. Krueger's quips had not yet become old hat by this point.

Jeff's second horror film of this Halloween season is John Carpenter's latest The Ward. Here's the trailer:

Day 3 (Tucker): A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge
After watching this again, I have concluded that the much ballyhooed gay subtext is not mere subtext, but the main focus of this sequel. Mark Patton stars as Jesse, a recent transplant to Elm Street, and a young man struggling with his own homosexuality. This film knows what it's doing and knows what it is about even if its director, Jack Sholder, does not. Here's a clip from the excellent series retrospective Never Sleep Again where the issue is addressed.
But, leather-clad gym teachers are not the only reason to check out Freddy's Revenge. There's some great gore, some not so great gore, Kim Myers, those weird human-faced dogs, and a riveting opening credit sequence in which Robert Englund sans make-up drives a school bus and drops off some forty year-olds posing as teenagers. Check it out. It's fantastic.

Day Two (Tucker): A Nightmare on Elm Street
I will not elaborate on this one just yet as we are preparing our upcoming Nightmare on Elm Street episode! So, stay tuned for that.
