  1. First of all, neither of you has seen Fright Night Part 2? It's not well-regarded among horror fans, but back in the day I preferred it to the original. At this point I'm not sure why, but it has its own ridiculous charms.

Next, Bram Stoker's Dracula - naked Monica Belluci with fangs, and Gary oldman turns into a pile of rats. A fucking pile of rats! The single bitchinest moment in vampire cinema.

Third, What's-His-Nuts was Humperdinck's human protector through most of the movie, 'cause you obviously have to have someone who can walk in daylight to take out vampire hunters, but than, as was likely promised to him from the beginning of their agreement, Humperdinck made him into a vampire to give him superhuman powers so he could fight off those who had discovered his secret. At least that's what I've always assumed.

Fourth, I could have sworn that I've seen so many vampire movies that I've grown sick of the genre, but I've had trouble coming up with a top 5 list. Anyway, here it is:

    5. Dracula (1979) - Maybe it's only for the scene where Van Helsing must slay his daughter (Mina in this version?), but what a scene. Laurence Olivier brings a real gravity to the role, and his vampire daughter is bone-chillingly freaky all dead, yet not.

    4. The Vampire Lovers - I have a soft spot for Hammer horror films, and a very very hard spot for Ingrid Pitt. She makes the film (and every other film she's in), and she does full frontal. I know, I'm a pig. A very randy heterosexual pig at that.

    3. Near Dark - I really didn't like Joshua Miller in this movie, but I loved Adrian pasdar and Jenny Wright enough to make up for it, not to mention half the cast of Aliens.

    2. Let Me In - Okay, so I know this make was completely unnecessary, but I love both Chloe Moritz and Kodi Smit-McPhee in it. I really need to watch the original again, because when I watched it, I was expecting something totally different, which left me a little disappointed. Of course, the more I thought about it, the more I liked it, but I've still only seen it once. Maybe a repeat viewing will change my mind. Nonetheless, the Matt Reeves version included some shots (car crash scene) that really won me over.

    1. The Lost Boys - see my post on "From Midnight With Love" for my full, ass-sucking droolfest, but this is the movie that got me into horror, and still define cool for me to this day. As I said in my previous post "The Lost Boys is where I want to go when I die." It's almost perfect, and it will always be one of my favorite movies ever. I never saw any vampire movies like the ones when I was twelve. Christ, does anybody?

Anyway, great podcast. I have so much more to say, but I can only type so much.
