Jeff and Tucker are joined by their friend Roman to discuss The Shining, then they talk the madness of Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. Our good friend Rob from montanamancavemassacre.blogspot.com checks in with a few reccomendations, and Mom tells us a spooky story.
In answer to your question, of course I love The Shining! The only legitimate reason anyone could have for not loving The Shining is the it was TOO scary for them (or that they wrote the book it was based on and didn't agree with the casting).
ReplyDeleteThat said, I may have not appreciated The Shining enough. I haven't seen it since I lived in Boise and we watch all the new special features on the super deluxe edition (Scatman is moved to tears just recounting his experience on the film!)
I don't know why I don't watch it more--I just always pass it by when I'm in the mood for really good horror because it's, I don't know, too obvious a choice? But listening to your podcast made me really want to revisit it. You guys just describing certain scenes was giving me goosebumps. And I haven't watched it since my personal horror renaissance/transformation into Marvin the Macabre. I seem to just understand horror better in (semi)maturity.
Anyway, fantastic podcast. Especially that guy who talked about Sinister/PA4/Evil Dead Trailer. One last thought: If we had to suffer a remake of The Shining, which director should get the job? My vote goes to Ti West, hands down. Any thoughts?
Oh yeah, Texas Chainsaw 2 is great fun, and I highly recommend revisiting Leatherface just because Viggo Mortenson is awesome.
